Internal Server Error when adding applications

Reported by Kieran P | March 23rd, 2010 @ 02:52 PM

I tried adding two applications to WebROaR. On both, I tried to use the "/" url, simple app name (no spaces), the path to the Ruby on Rails app was correct, I turns analytics on. For both, the spinner went on for 2-3 minutes before updating the page with "Internal Server Error". I tried searching for the logs to give to you but didn't find any with that error (the development.log file of the admin panel was blank). The applications were http://github.com/katipo/kakama (simple coded, works with sqlite), and http://github.com/kete/kete (fairly complex coding, designed for specific env, but thought I'd give it a go). Anything I can do to provide more information?

Thanks for trying out WebROaR and reporting the issue.

There is a bug. When some erroneous application having its minimum number of workers greater than 2 is being deployed via Admin Panel, instead of showing application's startup error it shows "Internal Server Error". We are working on its fix.

For time being, you can checkout "/var/log/webroar/[App Name].log" and "/var/log/webroar/webroar.log" log files to figure out error condition. If it didn't help you to fix the problem, please paste the content of these files here for our debugging.

We tried http://github.com/katipo/kakama application, and it was working fine.

    Kieran,

We have fixed the bug, implemented an additional mechanism to send ERROR control message, if worker was unable to load an application.

Could you please try out the latest code form github and let us know how it goes for your application.

    Thanks,
    Nikunj
